About Heather Glen Country House
The Heather Glen Country House is an elegant late Victorian Mansion set in 21/2 acres of old English Gardens. Situated deep in the beautiful River Eden Valley in the village of Ainstable and yet only 10 minutes drive from junctions 41 (Penrith) and 42 (Carlisle) of the M6 Motorway. The nearest railway station is at Armathwaite which is 1 1/2 miles from Ainstable on the famous Carlisle to Settle Line. The Heather Glenl was built in 1900 as a private residence for a Mr Gill who was a stone mason in the area and the building which overlooks the village stands out as a proud testiment to vicorian architecture. The Heather Glen which in the mid 60's was a country club and venue of The Cumbria Car Club is now a popular destination restaurant and functions centre.

The family run Heather Glen Country House is fully licensed and open throughout the year.
