Excellent 5*
We came to stay overnight at the Heather Glen and requested the superior honeymoon sweet (room1) as we haven’t had a night away child free for four years so we wanted a treat and wow! I was straight into a bubble bath with a cuppa which was heaven. We went for our dinner which was beautiful and we had no complaints at all just praise for it all, the staff were brilliant and so polite plus nothing was a problem for them either. The bed in the room was so comfortable that I fell asleep very quickly and I had a really good nights sleep (I don’t sleep well normally) so I felt refreshed the next morning. Breakfast at the Heather Glen well the best around in our opinions, all beautifully cooked fresh and good quality products. Staff again brilliant service and couldn’t ask for anymore. When we left we actually said should we stay for another night as one night was just not enough when we had enjoyed it so much. Can’t wait to come back for another overnight stay hopefully very soon. We booked the Heather Glen for our last night after a weeks trip to Scotland.The standard of the room, the warmth of the welcome, the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the food were the best we had experienced on our travels.Cannot praise the hotel too highly and would not hesitate to recommend it to anybody wanting a comfortable and enjoyable break.Thanks to all at this excellent hotel.

Perfect
What an amazing hotel, everything just happened and was very comfortable!They were amazingly accommodating for our four-legged friend.The room was lovely with all you need, the food was brilliant! Don’t eat before you go though as you won’t want to miss out and the portions are huge, and so delicious.We hope to return for another stop over en route to Inverness it broke up the journey nicely!Thank you

Traveling with pets
The staff were very friendly and helpful in the bar and a restaurant , the food was excellent, the only problem that we had as a couple with two medium sized dogs the room was to small our dogs sleep in crates at night so this mentwe had tostore all our luggage in the bathroom ..

Fab hotel 5 stars ????
We stayed for a weekend break with our dog in room 7, great room with direct access to the back of the hotel so perfect.The food was super top quality with a wide range of choice. Staff very friendly & helpful. Young girl looking after us at dinner (sorry didnt get her name) was a pleasure to chat with. Would definitely recommend this hotel, worth 5 stars & more.Thank you Judith & the team

What a gem to find so close to home!
Having an opportunity to have a couple of nights away but stay reasonably close to home we were so very lucky to find Heather Glen. Fulfilled our wishes and far more…. Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable room with everything we needed and amazing food. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making our mini break so enjoyable…. We will certainly return!

Excellent.
First time in a restaurant in 16 months for my birthday treat. Everything was excellent, food was brilliant as usual and staff lovely. Felt very Covid safe.

We were very disappointed to only be staying one night.We booked the hotel at short notice for a stop over on the way to Scotland. The accomodation and the staff was first rate. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent. I would certainly return

Excellent Chef
Stayed in Heather Glen to break up a trip to Scotland.We were fortunate enough to stay on a night that tge restaurant was open. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. My lamb fell off the bone. We will stay here again on our way to Scotland.

Lovely!
What a lovely little place……comfortable, cosy, clean. Staff were lovely and service excellent. Food cannot be faulted……gluten free menu served without any trouble and very much appreciated by one of our party. Thank you to the team following what must have been an incredibly difficult year.

Absolutely spot on!
First night away pist lockdown. Everything was perfect, evening meal the best we have had for a very long time. Breakfast was very good as well, great to escape from the awful buffet style self-service we frequently endure

Great service, lovely rooms
We stayed at the Heatherglen after our wedding at Low House. The hotel was beautifully decorated and had great character. Our room was well stocked and had a large comfy bed and a lovely fancy bathroom. Our evening meal included in the room rate was delicious and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We would also like to give special thanks to Dave who gave us a lift to Armathwaite and back in the evening so we could visit family. Would definitely recommend.

We were given a dinner voucher from a niece & decided to stay overnight.We had a really relaxing night and even though the restaurant was busy, the service was excellent.Dinner was deilcious and if you like big portions then you will be very happy

Great place to stay - comfortable room and excellent restaurant. Big positive was how attentive the staff were and accommodating to our requests and our dogs. The Heineken zero on draught was a real treat.

Exceptional
I was completely surprised by this little gem and everything was just perfect. From the room, to the facilities in the room, to the staff and right through to the owners. Everything was completely perfect. We were spoiled for choice for our evening meal with exceptionally tasty food and bigger portions than we could eat. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and all served up with lovely smiles and cheerfulness. I loved Judith's ethos in that she provides in her hotel what she would like to enjoy when staying in hotels herself. I will definitely be back.

Magical Country Retreat
What a beautiful place this is. From the amazing building as you arrive to the attention to detail in the room and food.Staying in room 1 we were shocked by the size of the room and especially bathroom with a gorgeous free standing bath as well as huge walk in shower. The bed could easily have slept sleeping beauty and all 7 dwarves it was so big and everything was presented immaculately even down to the quality of toiletries and the biscuits which were delicious.Check in was so easy and smooth and throughout the stay the staff were so friendly and professional making us feel so relaxed even during this time of covid.Beautiful little area by the pond that we took advantage of whilst having a cold drink in the sunshine.The food was beyond expectation, we took advantage of the 3 course dinner menu included in the cost of the room and it was delicious beyond belief and the portion size was enormous without any sacrifice in quality. I recommend the Game Pie as my first experience of it I was blown away by it.Breakfast again was fresh and excellent quality and nothing seemed too much trouble

Amazing place
Wow what an amazing place. Perfect hosts who couldn’t of dine more to make our stay better. The food was brilliant. Lovely surroundings which my dog loved. I can’t wait to go back.

Blissful post lockdown break
Heather Glen is a family run hotel in a very quiet location, which is an excellent base for cycling - very little traffic although hilly. Everyone was so friendly. Room was very comfortable. Food was excellent, very generous portions. Sad to say no room for dessert ??. Loved the dinner, b&b package, very reasonable. Hope to return!

From the warmth of the welcome, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff hto the quality of the food our overnight stay was just perfect.Our room was large, well equipped and warm. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and local quality produce used.We will return again soon.

This was our second visit to Heather Glen and we enjoyed it just as much if not more so than the previous time.The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is very well presented and perfectly cooked. A relaxing stay
We stayed for two nights, dining in the restaurant on both evening. We felt warmly welcomed and enjoyed excellent service at all times. There is a good menu choice, generous portions and efficient table service without any rush. The small wine list was very reasonable.Our accommodation was in one of the two garden rooms because we stayed with our dog. That worked well with direct access to the garden and grounds but with only a few paces to the door of the hotel.There is a huge car park.We would stay here again.

Pre-Christmas Treat
We have just returned from a pre-Christmas treat to ourselves, and what a treat! A truly stunning experience from first arrival at the property, with a friendly ,relaxed greeting from the owner, superb food and wonderful rooms and the most comfortable bed imaginable.We can't wait for another excuse to return!
