As of the 20th March 2020, the UK's fight against Covid19 is now reliant on responsible social distancing and strict guidance from government.
This is totally the correct action to take and was very much expected, but it was still very upsetting to shut down the Heather Glen but still unimagineable to consider weddings not taking place in the following months.
However, our immediate concerns were the weddings we had taking place end of March, April and May. I personally wish to thank every bride and groom for working with us to arrange an alternative date, and how efficiently you coordinated all of your wedding suppliers, especially at such a worrying time, and when seeing all your plans come to an abrupt stop, you are incredible.
After that the only advice we could give, was if your wedding was due to take place in the next 8 to 12 weeks then at the very least have a 'reserve date' with us for later this year or into next. But you are still getting married and the only thing that needs to change is the date! You need to make sure your wedding day is the one you have planned for so long, and that every important person you wish to be there is allowed to attend, especially grandparents. We must certainly be prepared for social distancing to apply for the foreseeable future.
To move forward, any brides and grooms wishing to move or reserve a date for later this year or to 2021 please get in touch with me. We are moving all payments made across to the new date if your wedding date does finally have to change. We are holding dates until you have a chance to contact all your wedding suppliers, and are certainly finding all local wedding suppliers are being extremely helpful, as are churches and the registrations service. We are living in a difficuly and uncertain situation, and as a wedding venue we work hard to foresee or resolve any inconvenience but nobody could have imagined this! So anything at all please ring or email me. We are lucky to have the Heather Glen also as our home and are working very hard making sure the garden is 'picture perfect' for the day we reopen! So I am here to answer any phone calls or emails.
Take care and stay safe Judith
Cumbria Registration Service
Would all couples looking to reschedule their civil ceremony booking from 1st June onwards go to the new ceremony email address:email@example.com
The Registration Service is dealing with enquiries in ceremony date order and whilst you may have to wait a number od days for a reply, they will get back to you as soon as they can.
Please DO NOT repeat email as this is only increasing the number of enquiries they are having to deal with and potentially causes unnecessary duplicate work by their staff
The registration service is not taking any new bookings, at this point in time. All resources are being focused on dealing with current bookings only.
